Whichever way you use to choose the reference image, always remember to choose an image thats well suited for your own skill level. If you dont feel comfortable drawing complicated stuff, choose an image with simple shapes and forms. However, if you think you can take on something more challenging, by all means, go ahead and pick something thats more complicated.
You can feel the paper with your hands when choosing the paper. The other type of paper are those with a mat surface. This kind of paper feels grainy and rough. In your local art supplies store, youll find both of these types of paper. Also, most multi-purpose paper feels rough rather than smooth. Thats because the paper has to provide for the needs of using colors. Choose a sketch pad thats smooth for practise. Dont worry if it feels thin. You dont need a thick piece of cartridge paper for sketching exercises.
The Art of Wall Mural Paintings - The history of wall mural paintings is as rich as it is complex. Mural paintings go back to pre-date written history, appearing first as a form of communication on the walls of caves. As cavemen *cough* artists began to evolve, so did their message and purpose. Wall mural paintings have since become a way to convey political messages, to make ugly walls pretty, to inspire the imagination, and to help people focus on societys issues. Murals have continued to evolve over the centuries not only in their purpose, but their uses. Sometime around the turn of the 20th century, wall mural paintings became a welcome addition to peoples homes, as a form of home decor.
